Main Article Content
Abstract
Several types of cardiovascular complications of coronavirus disease-2019 have been described, derived from the systemic proinflammatory state. One of them, rare, is pericarditis, which may or may not be accompanied by pericardial effusion, which may or may not lead to cardiac tamponade. I present the case of a 24-year-old man with coronavirus disease 2019, complicated with acute pericarditis and pericardial effusion with hemodynamic compromise that required surgical drainage.
