Insuficiencia renal aguda: diagnóstico, manejo y actualización en COVID-19. Revisión narrativa

Resumen
La insuficiencia renal aguda es un síndrome clínico caracterizado por una disminución abrupta y severa, de la función renal, en donde se produce un daño o lesión estructural que se manifiesta con la elevación de azoados y disminución de la producción de orina. La historia clínica es fundamental al momento de la evaluación, para poder determinar el tiempo de evolución. En caso de que el paciente presente infección por COVID-19, será importante evaluar si es asintomático o no y sus comorbilidades. La insuficiencia renal aguda debe ser identificada por todos los médicos, ya que el abordaje temprano es un determinante importante en la evolución y la duración de la enfermedad y puede evitar las complicaciones renales, como la enfermedad renal crónica, que se produce en un 5 % de los pacientes con insuficiencia renal aguda.
