Prevalence of non-carious cervical lesions in patients that attend to the Odontology department
Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: Non-carious cervical lesions (NCCL) are the result of the loss of dental tissue in the cervical third, which does not involve the presence of bacteria.
Objective: To analyze the prevalence of NCCL in patients who attended the dental department at the San Juan de Dios Polyclinic at Natá from January to August 2022.
Methods: A descriptive, retrospective, observational study was carried out; with a sample of 56 electronic files. The electronic records of patients from 30 to 60 years of age treated in the dentistry department from January to August 2022 were reviewed. The collection instrument is a questionnaire with four closed questions, made up of two sections: the first section includes the demographic aspects (age and sex). The second section is the complete odontogram (four quadrants), that is used to record whether or not the patient has NCCL and to locate the teeth affected by the lesion.
Results: We detected 37 patients with dental abrasion (66 %), 17 patients with dental abfraction (30.4 %), and 2 patients with dental erosion (3.6 %).
Conclusion: NCCL occurred more frequently in patients aged 41-50 years and in males
