Abstract

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) are the most common mesodermal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract 70-80%. Originating from the interstitial cells of Cajal, due to oncogenic mutations in cKIT / CD117 and PDGFRA (85-90%), GISTs without controller mutations in KIT or PDGFRA have traditionally been grouped as wild-type GIST KIT / PDGFRA “wild type GIST” and within these there are molecular subgroups. They are usually asymptomatic, their most frequent location: Gastric (55.6%). Laparoscopic resection is the method of choice for its resection. It is described that the surgical approach is indicated in tumors> 2cm (<2cm endoscopic follow-up). The biological behavior of the same will depend on the size, immunohistochemistry and number of mitoses in 50 fields of high power (histopathological) Imatinib is a drug with inhibitory activity of tyrosine kinase receptors approved by the FDA in 2002 for the treatment of metastatic disease
