About the Journal

The Revista Médica de la Caja de Seguro Social is the official medical and scientific publication of the Caja de Seguro Social of Panama. It is published every four months.

Focus and Scope

The Revista Médica de la Caja de Seguro Social is a scientific journal dedicated to the dissemination of research and advances in the medical and health sciences. Its primary objective is to promote knowledge and continuing education across various fields of medicine, thereby contributing to the development of the medical and scientific community.

The journal is intended for healthcare professionals, researchers, academics, and undergraduate and graduate students interested in the medical sciences. It accepts original research articles, review articles, clinical case reports, and letters to the editor. Submissions may be made at any time through the journal's online platform.

Peer Review Process

  1. Manuscript Receipt:
    The Editorial Coordination Office will notify the author upon receipt of the manuscript. The manuscript will be registered in OJS, with only the title displayed and no mention of the author's identity. It will then be assigned to external reviewers selected based on their expertise, who must have a complete profile in OJS.
  2. Reviewer Assignment and Evaluation Deadlines:
    - Reviewers will have 15 days to accept or decline the invitation.
    - The review must be completed within 4–5 weeks using the standard OJS review form.
    - Two instances of failure to respond will result in the reviewer being removed from the reviewer database.
  3. Possible Editorial Decisions:
    - Acceptance
    - Rejection
    - Revision by the author
  4. Notification to the Author:
    - If the manuscript is accepted, the editorial process will begin.
    - If the manuscript is rejected, the reviewer’s reasons will be communicated to the author.
    - If revisions are required, detailed comments and recommendations will be provided.
    - All editorial decisions are final and cannot be appealed.

Open Access Policy and Publication Fees

RMCSS provides immediate and free access to all of its content. There are no fees for manuscript review, processing, or publication. The journal operates under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.
